The last time I truly listened to Bright Eyes I was in high school, so when the opportunity to see them arose I didn’t really know what to expect from their show.  I was completely out of tune (pun intended) with anything they had done since I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning, and I wasn’t quite sure if I would be able to reconnect with them after so much time.  Would their poingant lyrics and cheerful yet somber melodies be enough to win me back?  Yes.  Read the rest after the jump.

On Friday, Sept. 16, Imagine Dragons played a show at Club Madrid at Sunset Station in Las Vegas. The show was part of the afterparty for the 107.9FM listeners appreciation show that featured Lit. The Dragons were at home in Vegas, and looking around the crowd, it was clear that Club Madrid was full of fans and friends and not tourists. Everybody knew the songs and sang along, clapped at the right times, jumped and danced through the whole show.

deadmau5 @ Verizon Wireless Theater

Regardless of whether or not you know who deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) is or have listened to his breed of electronica, you more than likely recognize his iconic mouse head. I wouldn’t even be surprised if my dad has seen it before. Last Friday night, homemade deadmau5 heads of all sizes and colors flocked to Verizon Wireless Theater for the sold-out Houston stop on his Meowingtons Hax Tour. For those who aren’t in the know, Professor Meowingtons is deadmau5′s cat.

Show Preview: Imagine Dragons, Las Vegas

The last weekend of this Summer is coming up, what are you doing to close out the season on a great note? I’m visiting Las Vegas and catching a show on Friday, that just happen to be of my new favorite band.

The band: Imagine Dragons. An alternative rock band from Las Vegas. I’ve been hooked on their music since the beginning of the Summer. My local Vegas friends introduced me to their sounds and that was it, they became a favorite. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out they’ll be playing a show on the same weekend I’m visiting the area.
The venue: Club Madrid at Sunset Station, Las Vegas. This is a KVGS 107.9 FM event.
The time: 8pm.

Virgin Free Fest 2011

This past weekend, my Angry Badger and I took a trip to Baltimore to check out this years edition of the Virgin Mobile Free Fest. After a late night of drinking on Friday night, we woke up as early as we were physically capable of, headed to the bus station to catch the silver line to Columbia, and the famed outdoor venue Merriweather Post Pavilion. Arriving just in time for the first acts of the day, we made our way into the lush, wooded venue with our new Fan E-Packs loaded to the gills with a new t-shirt, poster, 24 oz cup and more. We also walked into one of the best days ever.
