On Friday, Sept. 16, Imagine Dragons played a show at Club Madrid at Sunset Station in Las Vegas. The show was part of the afterparty for the 107.9FM listeners appreciation show that featured Lit. The Dragons were at home in Vegas, and looking around the crowd, it was clear that Club Madrid was full of fans and friends and not tourists. Everybody knew the songs and sang along, clapped at the right times, jumped and danced through the whole show.

I got great shots that night, see the full post for the rest of the review and photos.

Imagine Dragons @ Club Madrid

Imagine Dragons is a fairly young band. They formed in 2008 and didn’t release an EP until last year, and by that time, they were already a hit in their hometown of Las Vegas and around Utah. They were named Best Local Indie Band of 2010 by Las Vegas Weekly.

Lead vocalist, Dan Reynolds, is one of the most energetic dudes I’ve ever had the pleasure/challenge to photograph. He was all over the stage, all the time. They played a lot of new material throughout the night, in between favorites like “Cover Up,” “Hear Me,” “Amsterdam,” and “It’s Time.” Reynolds introduced almost every song during their two-part set, with the exception of “All Eyes,” which I totally called. While introducing “Tokyo,” Reynolds asked for all the single ladies at the club to raise their hands– For a second, I thought they were going to do some crazy version of Beyonce’s hit, but I was wrong.

The second part of the set started out with a smooth jam session, which was a great move to get everyone back into the show after the 30 minute break. And the totally unexpected moment of the night came when the tone of the show turned a little patriotic with an introduction and dedication of their song “America,” from the It’s Time EP. The rest of the crowd seemed to be OK with this, so I just went with it. Although, I’d have rather they played “I Need A Minute.” One of my favorite songs that night was “Selene.” Since the show, I haven’t been able to really move on from that song, which has been on replay on my music player.

The band is made up by Reynolds, D. Wayne Sermon (Guitar), Daniel Platzman (Drums), Theresa Flaminio (Keys), and Ben McKee (Bass). Remember their names, because these guys (and gal) are going places. They put together a great show and their music is so catchy, that it’s hard to believe they’re not signed yet.

I had a ton of fun that night. Check out my photos (and go listen to Imagine Dragons, if you haven’t yet.)
