2nd Annual HomeGrown Music Festival

May 9, 2011 by Sausage

This weekend, downtown Dallas will be transformed to celebrate all things local with the HomeGrown Music and Arts Festival. Not only will there be booths featuring local artist and businesses, but there will also be two stages with some of the best music from the area. Some of the bands playing include Seryn, Slobberbone, Astronautalis, Ishi, and Neon Indian. It’s a great lineup, and only $15! I’ll definitely be there, and highly recommend others to join in as well. Dallas doesn’t do festivals often, but this one has a lot of promise. See the full line-up and schedule after the jump.

Arcade Fire – Sausage’s Top Videos

Apr 29, 2011 by Sausage

This weekend, The Arcade Fire will invade Dallas. Next week, they will invade Win and Will Butler’s former hometown, The Woodlands, suburb of Houston and a huge inspiration for their latest album, The Suburbs. Everyone here at Breakfast on Tour is extremely excited, as they put on one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. The first time I saw them was at Mary Jane’s Fat Cat in Houston in 2005 shortly after their Funeral release. Seeing them play in that tiny venue with a only a hundred or so others was overwhelming and completely incredible. Since then, I have easily been able to say they are my favorite band.

In honor of this event, I have collected 10 of my favorite videos of theirs. See one here, and check out more after the jump (in no particular order).

Record Store Day – Events and Releases

Apr 4, 2011 by Sausage

Record Store Day is quickly approaching! The first Record Store Day took place in 2007, and has thankfully continued on and grown ever since. It was created to support the various independent record stores across the nation. Musical artists got behind it, and release special issue vinyls specifically for this day, and many record stores have turned it into a full blown event. I’ve been every year since it started, and am fully looking forward to the albums and festivities that surround this one. Continue reading for Record Store Day events that are happening across Texas, and what special edition vinyls will be released on April 16th, this year’s Record Store Day.
