NIN, R.E.M., STP set for Voodoo!

The Voodoo Music Experience announced today that 90's rock icons Nine Inch Nails and R.E.M. as well as the recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots are set to headline this year's event. The 2008 edition, taking place October 24-26 in New Orleans' City Park, marks the tenth-ever "Ritual". Staying true to past years, several local bands will be featured at the three-day Halloween-weekend event, including the Neville Brothers first ever appearance.
Voodoo, as you may or may not already know, is where this little blog was all dreamt up. We decided to dress our group up as breakfast, and from there it was on.
Anyway, on to the festival details...
Artists set to perform:
Nine Inch Nails
R.E.M.
The Neville Brothers
Stone Temple Pilots
Preservation Hall Jazz Band
Irving Mayfield's Jazz Orchestra
New Orleans Bingo Show
Nine Inch Nails are no stranger to the Voodoo Music Experience, as they headlined the event in 2005, just a few months after Hurricane Katrina demolished many parts of the city. Trent Reznor, being a New Orleans resident at the time, was a key proponent in keeping the festival in New Orleans. The festival ended up being split up having the other day in Memphis, TN. NIN headlined both days, with the NO show being a benefit for firefighters, police officers and many others who were in the city helping clean up and keep order.
I am highly anticipating the full line-up as it is always quite unique and diverse. In just the past two years BOT has witnessed performances by Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco, the original Meters, Duran Duran, The Flaming Lips, Kings Of Leon, Tiesto, Black Crowes, Social Distortion, Ozomatli, Broken Social Scene, Spoon, Jamie Lidell, Secret Machines, Brazilian Girls, Juvenile, Ferry Corsten, Galactic, Common, Yerba Buena and Ghostland Observatory among many others.
The full line-up is going to be announced on "The Eve of the Eve of St. John", or June 22nd for the layman. Tickets are on sale this Friday, May 2nd, and if they stay true to past years, it will be about $100 less expensive than your Bonnaroos and Lollapaloozas of the world. Plus, who can beat Bourbon Street for after-hours?
Come see why it's BOT's favorite festival.

...I'll trade you...
This festival is so often overlooked - if you live within 8 hours of NOLA, you really have no excuse not to go. Seriously.
So, what costumes are we wearing this year?
