The Video Omelette: Jan 28, 2008
Submitted by eggs on Mon, 01/28/2008 - 03:07.As previously reported, the 2008 Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival announced another round of eclectic artists to its initial list. This week for my Video Omelette I am showcasing some of the many acts that are gonna be gracing the stages and tents of this annual midwestern festival.
Apollo Sunshine - "Today Is The Day"
This Berklee-bred indie-rock trio have made major waves ever since jumping into the national spotlight after showcasing at last year's SxSW. This video is delightfully cheesy, but a great one nonetheless.
Arrested Development - "People Everyday"
I have been waiting for Speech and the Atlanta-based hip-hop collective to make it to my neck of the woods for many years now. This is now my number one show to see at this year's festival, so I hope they have a nice long set. Thanks to the Wakarusa Forum for pointing this video out to me!
Mike Relm - "O Face" mix
DVJ (Disc Video Jockey) Mike Relm has collaborated with many different hip-hop artists including Del tha Funkee Homosapien and Gift of Gab who are both also on the Wakarusa line-up. Relm made his Wakarusa debut last year as a last-minute replacement for the Ozric Tentacles who (like everybody else last year) were stuck with visa problems. Check out this fun video, which finds him mixing the "O Face" scene from
Delta Nove featuring Michael Travis and Jason Hann - Percussion Jam
I did not get a chance to see Delta Nove (Del-Tah No-Vay) at last year's Wakarusa, but this year they will definitely be a priority. This is a fun percussion jam that they performed during the set break of a String Cheese Incident show. Towards the end of their jam they are joined by Michael Travis and Jason Hann (who coincidently make up another Waka add: EOTO) to make a nice transition into their second set.
Tilly and the Wall - "Sing Songs Along"
Tap dancing indie-rock band from Omaha? Why Not!
Chris Berry and Panjea - Live from Down on the Farm music festival.
Check this short clip of Panjea. This should be a very interesting set from Chris Berry's group. They are being joined by Mike Kang of String Cheese Incident fame at Wakarusa which is sure to add a nice new dimension to their sound.
Until Next Time,
Eat Your Damn Breakfast!
