The Whigs @ Cactus Music (In-Store)

Athens-based trio The Whigs stopped by Cactus Music in Houston on Wednesday, May 7 before their show later that night at Warehouse Live. BOT was there to catch the action - check out our photos and videos after the jump.

The Whigs

The Whigs arrived about an hour after their scheduled start time of 6pm, but it turned out to be well worth the wait. And anyway, we had music to browse (and buy) and free beer to drink (good-ass Saint Arnold's beer, at that) in the meantime, so we were more than adequately occupied.

The Whigs appeared around 7pm and quickly set up their equipment. After explaining that the cops had been called during their first in-store performance, they dove into a series of quieter, stripped-down versions of four of their songs. It was particularly interesting to hear these versions knowing that we'd be witnessing them in their full-fledged, rocking (literally) glory later that night. (Review of their Warehouse Live show with What Made Milwaukee Famous and The Dead Trees to follow shortly.)
