On what was probably the grandest stage they've ever played, Seattle folksters Fleet Foxes showed up in New York this past weekend for their debut on Saturday Night Live. Over the years, the famed sketch-comedy television show has become known for introducing young, talented bands (with a few exceptions...) to a much wider audience by allowing them to perform twice over the course of the hour-long, nationally broadcasted program. This particular Saturday found Fleet Foxes playing a song from each of their two releases: "Mykonos" from their Sun Giant EP, and "Blue Ridge Mountains" from their critically acclaimed eponymous debut.

You gotta love that last video! Jorma Taccone is absolutely ridiculous, especially his work with Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer in The Lonely Island.
Fleet Foxes are also pretty damn good.

I wish I would have caught these guys at ACL this year!! I can definately see that they are way better live (as it should be!). Don't worry, I'm not saying their album is anything less than amazing!

PS Fleetwood Foxes is when you take 2 parts Fleetwood Mac, one part Fleet Foxes, add the song "The Fox" by Cornmeal, throw in a pinch of salt and blend on high for 4 minutes. Garnished with a pickle spear.

I have no idea how FF could play with a straight face with that dude dancing in front ... they were amazing though!
I was lucky to be on the front row for their set at ACL - SPECTACULAR. They were really funny in between songs and warmed up back stage with an a cappela version of "Silent Night" because as Robin said, "It shouldn't just be a Christmas song."
I wouldn't plan on them playing too many more huge festivals though ... they kept saying how small venues were their thing and they felt out of sorts being up there at ACL -- maybe they'll change their minds though.
ACL/FF
ACL was a little too large for Fleet Foxes, but it still worked. I really hope they come around to Walter's on Washington again. That would be the perfect venue to see them at!
