Superfly? Superflunk.

Weakest lineup to date.

Where has the real bonnaroo gone?

This is a hugh meh. Pearl Jam is the only descent headliner there. Seriouslly Metallica sucks and Jack Johnson as a headliner? It makes me laugh. The culture of this festival that use to make me want to come back is gone.

Yes and No

While I agree that Bonnaroo is taking a completely different turn from what it was in 2002, I disagree that this is a bad line-up. It is a very diverse line-up that has a little bit of everything: Jambands (Phil & Friends, Allmans, Umphrey's), American Roots Music (B.B., Willie, Bluegrass Allstars), Hip-Hop (Kanye, Talib, Lupe), Indie-Rock (MGMT, Ghostland, Iron & Wine), and three completely different headliners. I am guessing that Phil & Friends will headline Sunday night anyway, so don't worry about having Jack Johnson play for three hours. Ya it sucks that they didn't get Led Zeppelin to play, but they got a whole host of other good bands to discover.

Harsh reviews

So, this is definitely a different type of line-up then back in the day, but why so harsh? Do you not see Umphrey's, YMSB, Phil, Willie, etc, etc??!! Ya, I could do without the first line of artists (sorry Jack, still tryin to get into the new one), but i think some of the unexpected editions would be worth checkin out...Talib, Lupe, Sharon Jones. And, as a final note, is it really that unexpected? I mean when we were there years ago the trend toward popular music was apparent, and each year is more so, so while the ultimate hippie music festival may not be what it once was, I wouldn't be so quick to write it off. Call it hopeless optimism, but tell me you wouldn't be jammin to some PJ or Robert and Allison, right? :)

Real Bonnaroo

Overall, I think the lineup is pretty damn good. So Jack Johnson isn't a "big name" for a headliner, but this IS the real bonnaroo, it isn't a bunch of "big names", it's a slew of smaller good bands, and that's the way it should be. There's really only one HUGE name, Metallica, and you just can't argue with that. Good job roo!

ps: Toast should revoke an anonymous person's Rock Band privileges, in which Metallica is played frequently for saying they suck.

worst fest ever

this is the worst fest ever, its large inpersonal and dirty, i would rather go to some real local under ground fests any day of the week like 10,000 lakes moe down, nelsons ledges quarry park, hookahville, ect... it feels that every lame college kid who wants to be in the cool crowd plans to go to this show... what ever, Roo made me so ill when i went when dave mathews headlined that i said fuck all you guys and have been living in hawaii for the last 3 years and havent gave a shit about this fest. save your money and support local music, not the cluster fuck money making machine that is known as Roo. or better yet take the money you would of spent on that 300 doller ticket and use it to fly to hawaii, go camping on kauai, and get back to nature, tripping in the jungles of hawaii is a lot better then tripping in the shit hole of people known as Roo. aloha mahalo ps i run smokeys pipe shop in waikiki if you ever do make it to the islands look me up names mike and i will help you have that trip of a life time. BOO ROO

Re: worst fest ever

It was much better the first couple years, but as I have heard, it has gone down hill.

Re: worst fest ever

I feel ya! There are some good artists but the novelty of the Roo has definately worn off, particularly with the rise of several other stellar festivals in other areas. If I do ever make it to Hawaii, you know I'm hittin you up. Not to mention I could always use more glass.
