O.A.R. @ Warehouse Live

O.A.R. (Of A Revolution) stopped into town for a headlining gig at Warehouse Live. We were there to take some pictures, and experience this six-piece college-rock outfit.

See how it was after the jump

I made it to Warehouse Live, late as usual, just in time for the fourth song "Risen" to conclude. Even though I wasn't on time, the gracious tour manager and security made sure that I could take some good photos. Usually you only have the first three songs to take pictures, but I was given an additional 3 songs to snap some shots. Not wanting to overstay my welcome, I only lasted in the pit for about 2 songs. So a big thank you to O.A.R.'s tour manager, as well as Warehouse Live's security staff.

After grabbing an adult beverage, I positioned myself next to the soundboard to take in the whole feel of the show, including making-out tweens, passed-out fraternity guys, general rock listeners, and about 94% of John Mayer's Houston fanbase. The show was decent, but did not amaze me. Besides a new track or two, the setlist did not change much from when I caught their show 5 years ago at Bonnaroo. Standard set songs included, "Revisited", "Night Shift", and their most recognized song "That Was a Crazy Game of Poker". O.A.R. came back out for a three song encore which featured the highlight for me "Lay Down", as well as fan-favorite "Hey Girl" to close out the show.

While I enjoy O.A.R., and their brand of tried-and-true college-driven rock, I was hoping that they would progress into a more consistent live band that makes NEW music sound NEW. I would probably check them out at a festival again, if they weren't playing against someone better, but I don't think I would make it a point to see their live show next time it came to town.

Eggs' Rating: 5.7 yolks, for bringing a good show, but not a great show.
