Record Store Day - April 19, 2008

We are two days away from the first ever Record Store Day. This celebration of independent vinyl retailers is going off all throughout the world, including a few places here in Houston. Cactus Music, Vinyl Edge, ALLRECORDS, and Music Depot are all going to be celebrating with in-store performances, give-aways, cheap vinyl and other deals, free food and beverages, and other fun stuff.

Find out more after the jump

Our friends at Cactus Music have kindly laid out their day's plan over on Myspace. They have a bunch of things going on, including performances by South Austin Jug Band at noon and James McMurtry at 3pm. They have pizza and St. Arnold's beer for free, a brand-spanking-new vinyl listening party, and are giving away, among other things, a Taylor Baby acoustic guitar. Why wouldn't you be at Cactus on Saturday?

I am not too sure of what is going on at all of the other participating Houston record shops. I suggest you go and check it out for yourself (or if any of you are in the know, leave a comment with the details).

Not in Houston? Find a participating store near you.

Go out and support your local record store. Buy a few albums instead of stealing them, you damn pirates!

Record Store Day-Omaha,NE

Homers in the Old Market will be hosting Neva Dinova, out of Omaha tommorow. Feel free to check it out. And by the way, Man Man and Yeasayer will be playing just down the way at Slowdown, so why not make a day out of it, right? Tickets for the Man Man/Yeasayer show are $12. HAPPY RECORD STORE DAY!!! And on the holidays eve, how nice!

Re: Record Store Day-Omaha,NE

Admit it- you threw the Man Man/Yeasayer tidbit in there mostly to rub it in Eggs' face a little more, didn't you? :)

Take that!!!

Happy holiday weekend friends and foes!

The holiday...

Stoner.
