Neil Young & Paul McCartney - "A Day In The Life"
Submitted by eggs on Mon, 06/29/2009 - 16:38.Two of my musical heroes took the stage together two nights ago for a full-on psychedelic version of The Beatles' classic "A Day In The Life." Neil Young closed out his headlining performance at the Hard Rock Calling Festival in London's Hyde Park, which also featured performances by the likes of The Killers, Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band, Dave Matthews Band, Fleet Foxes, Passion Pit and Ben Harper & the Relentless 7. To close out his set, Young performed the first part of "ADITL" by himself, thrashing the breakdown half way through. As soon as the bouncy keys came alive to begin the second distinct part of "ADITL," one of the songs original composers, Sir Paul McCartney, joined Young at the microphone for very playful vocal duet. After Young ripped his strings out during the second breakdown, he again joined McCartney for another duet on marimba to close out the song. Check it out:
It would've been pretty damn cool to be there, but I'm sure if I just happened to be in the UK last weekend, i'd be attending Glastonbury. Good shit, though.
