All Points West Saturday

Saturday, August 9th brought about another batch of bands to see how well they could hold the attention of the crowd who was mostly there to see Radiohead headline their second night of the All Points West festival. Kings Of Leon, Animal Collective, Metric and Chromeo held down the "Blue Comet" stage, while The Roots, Sia, The Black Angels, and Nicole Atkins spotlighted both the "Bullet" and "Queen Of The Valley" stages. Once again, take the time to enjoy the videos and coverage of the people who were actually there.

Animal Collective - Peacebone

Sorry for the recent onslaught of Animal Collective, but like I said last week, I am obsessed (not to mention this video was way too good not too post). Pitchfork threw AC's video for "Peacebone", off of last year's incredible Strawberry Jam, into their fancy-shpancy filter, and put it up it for all eyes to enjoy on Pitchfork.tv.

This has to be the sweetest damn love story I have ever seen! Especially when they start terrorizing the 'Burbs high school style.

New Animal Collective - Water Curses

Animal Collective released a short, 4-track EP entitled Water Curses today (May 6) which features three extra tracks from the Strawberry Jam sessions, as well as one track that was recorded at Brooklyn's Rare Book Room studio.

Check out the video for "Water Curses":

Very fun stuff! What do you think?

Animal Collective covering(?) Panda Bear at Coachella

I am currently obsessed with Animal Collective, as well as the side project from band member Panda Bear. Check out why:

Animal Collective - Comfy in Nautica

I have watched quite a few videos from Coachella, and this was definitely the one that made me most jealous of those Californian festival goers. This event is definitely on my must-attend list, if only for its mind-blowing line-ups; Prince, Roger Waters, My Morning Jacket, Animal Collective, The National, Hot Chip, Islands, Stars... Need I say more?

Anybody make it to Coachella this year? How was it?

La Blogotheque, Je T'aime

If you ever find yourself perusing the internet with no specific destination, and are in the mood for the most creative, original music videos that you could ever see, head on over to La Blogotheque to get your fix. This Parisian music blog looks like it would be a great read, but unfortunately my French comprehension skills are currently at a second grade level. Merci beaucoup is pretty much all I know (I have to admit that I even googled the spelling and babel-fished this post's title). Fortunately for us non-French-speaking people their videos do all of the talking.

All Points West Festival Line-up!

Well, we have another line-up for you summer festival goers. This one comes to us from the AEG/Goldenvoice produced All Points West festival. The rumors about Radiohead and Jack Johnson headlining were true. The thing about it is that nobody told us that we'd be getting a double dose of those body-snatching Brit-rockers. The line-up is quite diverse bringing in many current indie sensations like Animal Collective and Cat Power. Summer festival troopers Michael Franti and Spearhead and The Roots are also featured, while some of my favorite new acts like the Black Kids and Rogue Wave are thrown in towards the bottom.
