Islands, the National, Clipse, Dengue Fever to Appear at Fun Fun Fun Fest
Submitted by cereal on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 22:10.
Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest first attracted our attention last year with an enticing sophomore lineup that included several indie treats. Given the festival's prime location in Waterloo Park and late fall weather (read: not blazingly hot like ACL), we'd already decided that we would be in attendance at this year's edition; now that we've taken a peek at the artists on the bill, FFFFest has leaped to the top of our can't-miss list. The 2008 lineup, released today by Austinist, includes such diverse acts as Clipse, the National, Bad Brains, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Annuals, Dengue Fever, Atmosphere, Grupo Fantasma, and Dan Deacon.
Fun Fun Fun Fest is set to take place on Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9 at Austin's Waterloo Park. Two-day passes cost $59.99 and will go on sale soon.

Islands
Walter's On Washington played host to Montreal-bred indie rock group Islands with support from MC AWOL One. We were there to sweat through the performances of both of these groups.

La Blogotheque, Je T'aime
Submitted by eggs on Tue, 03/18/2008 - 04:50.If you ever find yourself perusing the internet with no specific destination, and are in the mood for the most creative, original music videos that you could ever see, head on over to La Blogotheque to get your fix. This Parisian music blog looks like it would be a great read, but unfortunately my French comprehension skills are currently at a second grade level. Merci beaucoup is pretty much all I know (I have to admit that I even googled the spelling and babel-fished this post's title). Fortunately for us non-French-speaking people their videos do all of the talking.
Check out some of my favorite Blogotheque videos after the jump.
Mess With Texas 2
Submitted by eggs on Tue, 02/26/2008 - 03:27.
The second annual Mess With Texas party is set to take place on Saturday, March 15th in Austin at Waterloo Park. It will feature many of today's up-and-coming and established indie acts that will be in Austin for SxSW. Leading the bill are the recently re-united Breeders, punk rock mainstays NOFX, Canadian folksters Islands and English electronic duo Simian Mobile Disco. The musicians are also going to be sharing the stages with many of today's headlining comedians including Janeane Garofalo, Todd Barry, Brian Posehn and Human Giant (Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer). The best part about this event is that it is FREE!
