ROTHBURY 2009: Sunday in Photos
Submitted by eggs on Thu, 07/23/2009 - 04:33.Sunday saw the final acts grace the stages of the 2009 ROTHBURY Festival. I was able to successfully make it to a bunch of different sets over the course of the day, finally taking a break from photography duties before the days headliner, Bob Dylan. Featured in the following photographs are shots of The Hard Lessons, Toots & the Maytals, Guster, Yonder Mountain String Band, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, The Hold Steady, Matisyahu, Willie Nelson and Ani DiFranco. Warning, there's one photo that's not too safe for work...

Submitted by eggs on Thu, 07/23/2009 - 02:44.
The fourth and final day of the 2009 ROTHBURY Festival featured a slew of acts that I'd never caught live before, as well as a few favorites scattered in throughout the day. Top billing for the day belonged to legendary singer/songwriter Bob Dylan, who closed The Odeum with a set full of hits. Other notable acts I caught on Sunday, July 5th include Willie Nelson, Yonder Mountain String Band, Toots & the Maytals, Ani DiFranco, The Hold Steady, Umphrey's McGee and a bunch more throughout the day.

ROTHBURY 2009: Saturday in Review
Submitted by eggs on Thu, 07/16/2009 - 15:29.
We were half way through the weekend, and ROTHBURY was still alive and kicking. Saturday's main event featured a headlining set from The Dead which was being billed as their only performance for the entire summer. Many other notable acts also took the stages surrounding the Sherwood Forest, including The Black Crowes, MSTRKRFT, Umphrey's McGee, Les Claypool, Zappa Plays Zappa and a host of other impressive bands to get people's tired and dirty feet moving.

ROTHBURY 2009: Friday in Photos
Submitted by eggs on Mon, 07/13/2009 - 00:26.Friday, July 3rd proved to be our busiest day of the entire weekend, bouncing around from stage to stage to catch as much music as we possibly could. You can read our review from the entire day, which features a nice dose of words and pictures. Highlights included a rambunctious set from Man Man, indie scenesters Broken Social Scene, a healthy set of hip-hop from Damian 'Jr. Gong' Marley & Nas, a reunited The String Cheese Incident and late night action from both Chromeo and Girl Talk.

ROTHBURY 2009: Friday in Review
Submitted by eggs on Sun, 07/12/2009 - 13:26.
The weekend was in full swing, already experiencing a full day of music and misbehaving on the opening day of the 2009 ROTHBURY Festival. Friday was probably the busiest day for me, running from stage to stage to catch bits and pieces of my favorite acts. Among those who performed on Friday, I witnessed sets from King Sunny Ade & His African Beats, Man Man, G. Love & Special Sauce, Broken Social Scene, Damian 'Jr. Gong' Marley & Nas, Flogging Molly, The String Cheese Incident, Chromeo and Girl Tak.

ROTHBURY 2009: Thursday in Review
Submitted by eggs on Fri, 07/10/2009 - 02:59.
With all the great concert and festivals I'm lucky enough to attend year in and year out, not many of them could even come close to comparing to last year's inaugural ROTHBURY Festival. With that being said, year two stepped it up even more from year one, bringing in a solid line-up of players to entertain the 35,000 gathered in western Michigan. With near-perfect weather, ROTHBURY 2009 returned with a vengeance, making sure not to fall into a sophomore slump early with bands like Keller Williams, The Disco Biscuits, Cold War Kids, Toubab Krewe and Future Rock starting things off on Thursday, June 2nd.

A Day In The Life at ROTHBURY with Kyle Hollingsworth
Submitted by eggs on Thu, 07/09/2009 - 12:55.The second annual ROTHBURY Festival took place this last weekend, and went off without a hitch. I was in attendance, and am soon going to start posting coverage of the event, but in the mean time, I'd thought you festivarians might enjoy this clip. It features Kyle Hollingsworth's Friday at ROTHBURY, from the moment he wakes up, until the following morning after his band, The String Cheese Incident, played their first full show in several years. Packed with footage Hollingsworth took with his Flip camera, including shots from all around the grounds, the clip is set to a simple keyboard version of The Beatles' gem "A Day In The Life," sung by Hollingworth himself.
You gotta love Hollingsworth and Billy Nershi clouding out the back stage trailer!
