Grupo Fantasma @ Continental Club

Legendary Latin/funk fusion eleven-piece Grupo Fantasma made the journey from Austin to Houston last Friday, November 7 for a stop at the Continental Club. We'd missed their set earlier in the year at the Houston International Festival, and were ready for the opportunity to see them again. They tore through many tight numbers that made the overfilled Continental Club gyrate to their infectious beat. We were impressed by their loyal and diverse fanbase, as well as the tightness of their playing, but it was mostly their overwhelming individual talent that won us over throughout the night. We took some videos and pictures from the evening's events, so feel free to take a look after the jump.

Willie Nelson, Ghostland Observatory, Grupo Fantasma to perform at South Padre International Festival

Apparently, some broseph was smoking something funky in South Padre over spring break and came up with the idea of gathering a bunch of bands down there to play. He pitched the concept to his father, who ultimately gave him the money for it - so long as his father could pick a few of the bands. They came to an agreement, and now we have Willie Nelson, Ghostland Observatory, Foghat, and Grupo Fantasma playing the same festival. (This is not necessarily a true story...) This line-up is one of those "only in Texas" type things, but for the low price of $70, why not?
