Sunday, July 27th found the Breakfast On Tour crew in downtown Houston for the annual Houston Press Music Awards Showcase, which featured 60 bands performing at 10 different venues. Cereal was busy taking notes for her first article for the Houston Press, so I took the camera and shot the day's events. Many bands brought their A games, but the top showing for me had to be Buxton's 8pm set at Butterfly High. Overall, we had the chance to see 10 bands, including some old favorites like Sideshow Tramps and D.R.U.M, as well as some new discoveries like The Tontons, Pale, and Sharks and Sailors. It was one hell of a day, and we have the photos to prove it!

Preview: 2008 Houston Press Music Awards Showcase

On Sunday, July 27, sixty of the best musical acts Houston has to offer will descend upon downtown to exhibit their skills as part of the 2008 Houston Press Music Awards Showcase. Starting at 4pm, ten venues (Butterfly High, Dean's Credit Clothing, Flying Saucer, Hard Rock Cafe, Havana Latin Grill & Bar, Live Sports Cafe, Notsuoh, The Real Sammie's, ROCBAR, and Venue) will be playing host to nominees in all categories of this year's music awards. Mosaic will cater to the late-night crowd with sets from five DJs beginning at 10pm.
